Having hired 36 people over the past year and 29 during the pandemic, Velez Managed Services – a global IT maintenance firm – haven’t let Covid-19 slow their business down. Having recruited new employees in multiple countries, and still expanding, the company has taken the world’s current situation into consideration and decided to move to larger offices.
Over the past year the world has become accustomed to social distancing, working from home and wearing masks to stay safe. Due to their rapid rise in employees, Velez has taken all these measures into consideration to ensure their new and existing employees have a safe work environment. This led to the Velez Derby team to move into a new, larger office, just outside of Derby. This 6-figure investment will allow employees at Velez to social distance while in the work- place, however the company has given their employees the option to work at home if they wish.
Our Business Continuity Plan safety measures such as hand sanitizers, desks spaced 2 meters apart and sitting 1-2 meters apart in meeting rooms have been put into place by CEO Sean Price to ensure the employees working in the office during the pandemic aren’t at risk. In addition, only one person is allowed into the toilets or kitchen at one time, as well as the office being regularly cleaned, including sanitizing desks – which cannot be shared.

After the pandemic, the office will have pool tables and other features for employees on their lunch breaks. However, for now the office consists of eating areas separate to the workspaces, large desks with multiple computer screens, multiple meeting areas and rooms, projectors and televisions and personalized wall decorations such as Velez football shirts and a geometric wall, designed by the employees.
As a global IT maintenance firm, it is essential Velez have a secure location for their parts. This multi- year deal also includes a warehouse for parts and spares on-site, a decision made by CEO Sean Price when moving to a larger space. Approximately 16 minutes from the city center, the countryside office isn’t too far from the center of Derby whilst still being out of the way and quiet. This investment is a great opportunity for Velez to expand further in the future, which is one of the goals for 2021.
The Derby office move was documented in several social media posts on the Velez official Instagram and LinkedIn pages, which you can find below.
